Senior Year

This week the baby sister started her senior year in high school.
Let's take a look at August 2000...
Aimee was starting freshman year, Britt was starting kindergarten, and I was a senior
Please ignore the awful hair...it was before I discovered the Chi

Now, August 2012
We all took a picture of ourselves, at our own houses, on Britt's first day of senior year.

It's funny because I don't feel like I've gotten that old...I guess BG is just catching up with me...I know I'm staying young forever!

Happy Senior Year Britt-Britt

First Day of School

Today is my seventh first day of school!  It's my third year as a Montessori teacher which makes this year extra special.  I have a group of five year olds that have been with me the past two years.  They started out as 3K our first year the school was open and this is their final year with me.  I also realized I've never shown y'all a peek at my classroom.  So here it is...all ready for my sweet kiddos to come back and fill it up!

Summer reading

This summer I put my Kindle Fire to good use.
Now we all know about my love of all things Harry Potter, but once you've read the series four times its time to move on to other literature.  I've always enjoyed the fantasy genre because it takes you away from the every day world into some place magical and totally different than your life.  That's one of the reasons I liked the HP books so much...they were just plain fun!
About two years ago J and I got hooked on an HBO series called Game of Thrones.  NOW...the HBO show takes it a little too far with the language and adult content but when I decided to read the books (a series of five so far with two more on the way) I was pleasantly surprised on how not graphic the books were when it came to said adult content and violence.  There is a tad bit of language, but it can be easily skimmed over.
I am now on the third book of the series.  The interesting thing about this book is that I have no idea what is going to happen.  I watched two seasons of Game of Thrones, which covers the first two books, and now I'm reading what will become the third season starting in the spring.

On a side note...while driving to and from Tennessee for our camping week, J and I listened to what is being called the "next Hunger Games."  It's called Divergent and it was a lot like the HG setting and world, but of course different.  It's a series of three books but only the first two have been written so far.  We really enjoyed listening to the book on our iPhone in the car...it helped pass the time.

Hotlanta

For our girls weekend Julie, Briana, and I all met up in Atlanta.  The girls each flew from their cities and I drove in so we could have a car.  Briana's flight got in first...and let me tell you...picking up someone from the ATL airport is no joke!  I joked with Briana when she finally got in the car that if we were at the Columbia airport I would have parked, sat and waited for her in a sweet little rocking chair while she came out the one and only possible exit, got her bags and paid about $3.00 for my parking spot.  Easy-peasy.  In Atlanta you get yelled at by policemen for sitting in one spot on the curb for too long and have to continue circling around until your friend arrives.  That is until we discovered the cell phone lot when we went back to the airport later that night to pick up Julie.
The main reason for out get together was just to hang out since we hadn't been together in two years.  We didn't really do a whole lot other than chat and catch up.  Friday morning we went to the Coca-Cola museum which is something I've been wanting to do for a very long time!
The official torch of the 1996 Olympic Games
The best most interesting part of the museum was the tasting room where you could taste Coke products from around the world.  Each continent had it's own drink station where you could taste several different flavors.  Most of the flavors where very sweet fruity drinks that you could never drink for real.
But there was one flavor...
just save your taste buds and skip the Beverly from Italy.  It was so bitter and disgusting that I had to quickly find the traditional Coke fountain and wash that nasty taste down!
At the very end of the tour you got to pick up a free glass bottle of Coke that was bottled right there in the factory!
Saturday we spend most of our day at the Mall of Georgia shopping and then on to the Bella Vita salon.  Josh's aunt owns this super cute salon so we made appointments to get some fancy high school style manicures.
I don't know if you can tell, but there are tiny rhinestones on each of our ring fingers...we are so hip!
We had such a good time being together again.  Next trip...Nashville '14!!

This past weekend I got to get with some of my very best friends from college.  You may have seen me mention them on here before...they are kinda special to me.
We realized this weekend that we gotten together every other year since 2006.  Three weddings and one just for fun weekend.  I think we're going to keep this tradition.

HP on a Friday night

Friday night Jeremy, Kristin, and Andy came over.  We grilled burgers, watched YouTube videos, and played...
That's right...a Harry Potter Lego board game!
Kristin got the game for her birthday so we decided to try it out.  C'mon, don't you spend your Friday nights playing HP board games?  No...Just us?
It took a little time putting the whole board together.  Kristin and I gave it our best shot the the Lego-pros decided they needed to step in and help.  Apparently Kristin and I didn't play with enough Legos as kids.
The game was actually pretty complicated and required a lot of strategy but it was still fun.
Zooey was just tired of the whole game.
